Melissa and Jonathan Besse asked me to help them after a pool and pool house installation was complete. They wanted a backyard entertaining oasis. The problem on the site was a large grade change sloping away from the pool on one side. With the addition of a sweeping retaining wall the back garden was divided and a sweeping oval lawn was put in for both formal aesthetic and sports with their children.
A fire pit with a round seat wall enclosure was installed and set apart from the pool by walkways and a birch grove planted around it. The plantings are meant to give focus to the time when the pool will be used most, summer.
